Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting the park

  • Where is NOD Park and where can I park?

NOD Park is located in the Završnica valley. You can park in our car park or in the valley's public car park. We encourage sustainable ways of reaching the valley – we recommend a pleasant walk along the marked path from Žirovnica railway station to the park. It's an easy family walk of around 40 minutes, or a 10–15 minute ride along the side roads from Žirovnica by bike.

  • Is the park wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the park is wheelchair accessible, and accessible toilets are available.

  • Do I need to book in advance?

No advance booking is needed for individual visits. For larger groups, we recommend letting us know in advance at info@nodpark.com or +386 64 165 839.

  • How long does a visit take?

Allow 2 to 3 hours for your visit. You can complete the trails more than once.

  • Who can visit the park?

To climb, children must be able to reach at least 140 cm with their arms outstretched (recommended age 5+). Some trails require a reach of 150 cm or 160 cm. The minimum weight for the treetop trails is 20 kg and the maximum is 130 kg.

  • Do children need to be accompanied by an adult?

Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult on all trails, which means the adult climbs with the child. One adult may accompany up to three children.

Children under 10 may climb the orange and green trails on their own; on all other trails they also need to be accompanied.

  • Do I need a ticket if I'm not climbing and just watching?

If you're not climbing, you don't need a ticket and are welcome to stroll around the park. There's also a bistro next to the park where you can watch the action, and bikes are available for hire.

Safety

  • Is visiting the park safe?

The park uses safety equipment from the renowned Swiss manufacturer Kanopeo. At the start of every trail, each visitor clips on a special safety carabiner that cannot be detached along the way. It protects you while climbing in case of a slip or fall. Our guides keep a constant eye on the park and are ready to help whenever needed.

  • What if I get scared?

Our instructors will safely lower you down from the trail – which is a little adventure in itself, and a new challenge for next time.

  • Do I need any previous experience?

No previous experience is needed. Every visitor first takes part in a short briefing, where an instructor demonstrates and explains the safety rules.

  • What happens if there's a storm?

If the weather takes a serious turn during your adventure, our instructors will pause all activity. You can wait out the storm at reception or in the bistro, and return to the treetops once conditions are safe again. If you'd rather not continue climbing, you'll receive a gift voucher to use on a sunnier day.

  • Can I climb if I'm pregnant or have a health condition?

We advise against treetop climbing and the free fall for pregnant women, people with heart conditions, epilepsy or back pain, and anyone who has recently had surgery. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.

  • How does the free fall work?

The free fall trail is set up like the other treetop trails, but with a different finish. At the end of the trail, an instructor clips you onto the Quick Fly safety system, which works much like the auto-belay systems used in climbing gyms. You jump wearing a climbing harness and land safely and gently on the ground. An unforgettable experience.

Clothing, footwear and equipment

  • What should I wear?

We recommend sports clothing and footwear. On hot days, shorts and a T-shirt are ideal. For better grip and protection, we suggest wearing gloves (cycling or gardening gloves), which you can also buy from us (€2).

  • Can I climb barefoot or in flip-flops?

Climbing barefoot or in flip-flops is not allowed due to the risk of injury.

  • Is there somewhere to leave my backpack while I climb?

You can store your backpack and all personal belongings safely in the lockers at the park reception.

Bike centre

  • What bike sizes are available for hire?

We have Elan e-bikes for adults (S, M, L) and lightweight Woom Air children's bikes in various sizes (4, 5, 6). When booking, let us know the age and height of your children so we can prepare the right size.

  • Do I need a guide, or can I explore on my own?

The surrounding routes are well marked and easy to follow on your own. At reception, we'll gladly recommend a route to suit your fitness and the time you have.

  • Is the bike skills course suitable for complete beginners?

The course is built up in stages, so beginners can start with the easier obstacles while experienced riders take on the more demanding ones. There's no time limit – practise for as long as you like.

  • Do I need to leave a deposit to hire a bike?

For bike hire, we require an identity document, which we photocopy.

Food and drink

  • Do I need to book a table?

It depends on how busy we are. Smaller groups don't usually need a reservation. For larger groups and birthday parties, booking is essential so we can make sure there's enough space and look after you properly.

  • Do you offer vegetarian or gluten-free food?

We offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Several dishes are gluten-free, but we cannot rule out traces of gluten, as the kitchen is not set up exclusively for gluten-free preparation.

  • Can I come just for lunch, without visiting the park?

Of course! The bistro is open to all visitors to the valley, not just park guests. Drop by – we'd love to see you.

  • Can children get smaller portions or a children's menu?

Yes, we're happy to prepare child-sized portions for our youngest guests.

  • Do you serve ice cream and snacks outside regular meal times?

Yes, whenever the bistro is open, you'll find ice cream, freshly made waffles, croissants, drinks and light snacks. Perfect for a quick stop between adventures.

Children's birthday parties

  • Can we celebrate a birthday at NOD Park?

We organise guided birthday parties for all children aged 5 and over – old enough to take on the treetop challenges.

For children under 5, our free play area is available, and you can celebrate the birthday in our bistro (bistro@nodpark.com, +386 41 424 071).

  • What does a guided birthday party include?

For children aged 5 to 10, the party has three parts:

    • Climbing on two secured trails. The children receive climbing safety equipment, a safety briefing and an instructor who accompanies them the whole time.
    • In the second part, the children go on a treasure hunt around the park, led by an instructor.
    • To finish, there's pizza and a refreshing drink.

    For children over 10:

    • Climbing throughout the whole park. The children receive climbing safety equipment, a safety briefing and an instructor who accompanies them the whole time.
    • To finish, there's pizza and a refreshing drink.
  • How long does a birthday party last?

A birthday party lasts two and a half hours.

  • Can I bring my own cake?

Yes, you're welcome to bring your own cake – snacks and drinks are taken care of.

  • Is the terrace suitable for larger celebrations or group meals?

Yes, our spacious streamside terrace is ideal for group meals, birthday celebrations, family gatherings and team-building lunches. For larger groups, please let us know in advance.

  • Who do I contact to arrange the details?

For bookings and any questions, contact us at info@nodpark.com or call +386 64 165 839.
